Context
Worked across ads and infrastructure systems at Houzz, building analytics, targeting, and distributed backend services for paid customers and internal data teams.
What I built
- Ads analytics infrastructure for tracking, logging, and reporting
- Re-architected ads systems from hard-coded UI logic into distributed services for advanced targeting and optimization
- Migrated Redis to Redis Cluster for one of the company's largest production data stores
- Primary on-call engineer for the site and release manager for major feature launches
What I learned
- How to re-architect a monolithic ads system into distributed services under production pressure
- The operational reality of being primary on-call for a high-traffic consumer site
- How to handle large-scale data store migrations (Redis to Redis Cluster) without downtime
Why it matters now
Houzz was a bridge between Google-scale infrastructure and the startup world. The experience of re-architecting systems, managing production reliability, and operating as a principal engineer with broad ownership prepared me for the founder role at Youpi and the hands-on technical work I do now.
